The Greater Manchester County Cup is our final chance of silverware this season and it is a trophy currently held by Bolton S.F.A after last year’s Under 15’s went all the way in this competition.

Victory against Wigan would see us into the final at the wonderful Ayrshire Road training complex of Manchester United on Friday evening. Defeat would signal the end of three fantastic years of town team football.

Thanks to all those who played and supported last Friday in the league play off finals. The format was a new one so it was always going to be an interesting event. It was nice to get off to a good start in our first game but then our luck seemed to run out against Trafford and Salford’s much larger squad meant that they had fresher legs in the final encounter.

Congratulations to Trafford who won the trophy after a penalty shoot out and in particular to their manager who was retiring after 6 years. In my experience he has always been a real pleasure to deal with and if we couldn’t win it, it was somewhat fitting that his team picked up the spoils in his last ever match in charge.

Best wishes

Mr Jackson
