Well done and thanks to everyone who was involved in our 2-1 friendly loss to Liverpool last Wednesday evening. Despite the score there were plenty of positives to take from the match.

It was our first match together as a town team unit and no fixture in schools’ district football comes much tougher than Liverpool away. Liverpool S.F.A are always fantastic hosts and they have access to some of the best facilities in the country. This season they are unbeaten and that includes matches against academy sides from across the north west. That unbeaten record was just 7 minutes from being broken after we had taken the lead with a wonderful goal in the second half, but eventually their spirited attacks paid dividends and they closed out the win at the death.

I have no doubt that we will meet Liverpool again in a competitive match somewhere along the line but for now we wish them well and look forward to our ESFA Cup first round tie at home to Spen Valley on Saturday 15th October. No Bolton S.F.A side has ever won the national trophy but this season we have a real chance of going all the way. Our opposition will have serious ambitions of their own so we will need to be focused and ready from the outset.

Please keepĀ an eye on this page throughout the week for squad news and full details of the venue and kick off time for Saturday’s game.

Best wishes

Mr Jackson
