What a pleasure it was to witness such a scintillating performance in our league fixture with Manchester on 16th April. It is the first time in a long time that any of our representative sides have picked up a win at Manchester and you would have to go a long way back to find one as comprehensive.

Just as impressive was the exemplary attitude displayed by all involved and we thank the Manchester players and staff for hosting us on a wonderful spring morning. Thanks to our manager Mr Baldwin for his continued hard work and patience in what has been a rather stop-start campaign and to all players, parents and other supporters who made the trip over to William Hulme’s Grammar School to cheer on the team.

We now go into the ‘business end’ of the season with vigour and our remaining league fixture on Saturday 23rd April against Salford is a ‘must win’ if we are to stand any chance of qualifying for the end of season play-offs that are a feature of the new G.M.C.S.F.A Merit League format. So far we have a points scored per points available percentage of 58% after 4 games played. Manchester are now on 75% also after 4 games, Salford on 71% after 7 games, Warrington on 80% after 5 and Wigan on 46.6% after 5. We would need to finish in the top 4 based upon those percentages to be considered for qualification.

After the Salford match we must travel to Merseyside one more time to play Knowsley in what promises to be a very competitive County Cup quarter final. With potentially only two games left there is still so much to play for!

Please keep an eye on this page throughout the week for updates.

Best wishes

Mr Jackson
