The weather reports had predicted rain for Saturday morning but as we prepared to set off for the match from our base at Canon Slade School the conditions quickly became much worse than anticipated. A phone call soon came in from the manager at Tameside who confirmed that the match had to be postponed due to poor weather.
Although we are naturally disappointed that the fixture was not fulfilled and that it was cancelled at such late notice, the right decision was made. The welfare of players and spectators has to be the main priority for everybody involved.
Thank you to all of those players who still turned up to get on the mini bus looking very smart in their school uniforms despite the torrential rain: I hope that we didn’t upset your Saturday morning plans too much.
Sincere apologies to all of those who made it down to the ground to be told the news upon arrival. When the decision was made at 9.20am I was trying to send text messages and emails to parents from my phone but the rain was rendering my touch screen device useless. Please feel free to send in contact numbers for me to use in case similar circumstances arise again.
For now I would like to wish you and your families a very happy Easter and I look forward to seeing you all in the summer term.
Best wishes
Mr Jackson
